West Virginia to North Carolina 2026 (Part 1)

Armed with dual tanks full of diesel in a low-mileage 1997 F-Super Duty (F-450), with good tunes and a red nose pit bull's head in my lap, I left the northern panhandle of West Virginia bound for the mountains of western North Carolina.
The plan was simple: get into town a few days early, get tattooed, and, most importantly, ride a lot!
Our Airbnb was easy enough to find, although Maps led us about a quarter mile past it. It took a little bit to figure out in the pitch-black night while weary from the road. We finally found the little cottage nestled on a road that wound through the foothills. It was perfect for a motorcycle getaway, with amazing riding right up to the doorstep and scenery that makes me long so badly to move back here.
