Shorty pegs for you Lane Splitting White Lining Chopper Freaks!

These Shorty Pegs Measure in at 2.5” long (not including mount). These pegs work well on narrow lane splitters, show bikes, just your weirdo chopper. They are also great pegs for bikes that only have a passenger occasionally. They have our signature features including dished ends and a high attention to detail. Our pegs are available with a variety of mounting options for most Harley’s and other custom applications. Ever had a broken brass mount? Our specialty folding steel/stainless mounts are bomb-proof. You will be hard pressed to find another set of pegs on the market like these!

Ride to Castle Car Show

We had a great ride out to the Castle Car Show at Castle In The Clouds. We started the day in Portland at 45 Degrees in the morning on a Yamaha aircooled 650. After running some errands on the yammy Gini and I jumped on the turnpike and jammed North to meet up with Dad. I ride down to 24 degrees but I didn’t mind that when it was time to jump on Dad’s fatboy it had significantly warmed up. It hadn’t changed much but some times a few degrees warmer and sunshine makes a noticeable difference. I didn’t take many photos on the way there or back other than this one. I did get a handful at the show. Gini also captured some great photos especially at the car show. She has shared some on her Instagram account @gin_city_.
I felt a handful processed in Black and white were the best composition. Especially engines with forced induction it seems…

Yenko or Yenko valve covers?
Dad noticed the shifter on this Nash. I thought it was pretty interesting along with the rest of the dash.

I think the only Pantera I’ve seen before this in person was the one Asheville Lane has. And I’ve never been up close and personal with it.
There are some Great youtube videos on these now! Including the one Donut Media did on the one Elvis owned and shot with a pistol.
Pantera Powered by Ford I was thinking they put big block FE’s in these but it seems the biggest they did were 351c and even 351w motors. With such a wide intake I’m guessing this must be a Cleveland?
Can you believe it? 2 shaker hood cars in this one show! Name the paint style if you know! Mopar had the most interesting factory paint back in the day (in my opinion).

What would you pick if you had the chance to get a classic wing car? Super bird or Daytona??? This is another car I don’t think I’ve seen in person till now!
We arrived a little late and there were still a ton of cars. Many I didn’t get a chance to capture. A few left before we could get up to them. Over all it was a great car show and a great ride!

After dinner I sat on the couch and pulled my hat off and set it down. It hadn't dawned on me that I'm reppin the Bamma Hommies hard today. It's not hard to catch me in the @sanctuarycyclesllc shirt and I've been breaking the Nick's Choppers hat out more especially on the weekends when it won't be full of shop grime (@nickhaints ). But I thought it was funny to be out riding around Maine in full Bamma chopper gear... Always stoked to support rad dudes thanks for some cool gear hope to share a beer again one of these days soon.
And yeah I'm a dork for setting up a tripod and a timer... 🤣🤷♂️

Another in progress shot of the Cobbler's Shoe with the new to us Nikon. I've always been interested in photography and have needed a decent camera around the shop forever.
We may have something kind of big up our sleeves with this build. We'll have to wait to see which way things are going to turn out. We have some fun ideas for this build. Hopefully we will break them out this time around! The ole shop truck is always a work in progress…

Just barely had a chance to shoot these with our new to us but old Nikon d5000 before we sent them out! It's really nice to finally have a decent camera in house. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it sooner than later. If they weren't all packaged up to ship I think a slightly different F stop would have been ideal. But I'm still rather pleased.

Back in the beginning of things, in the days when our little chopper scene was just an under current surfacing on blogs and forums beneath a sea of beach ball back tires and mile long stretched tank mainstream “customs”. A few short years after founding the shop I saw a thread on Chop Cult. Some one was looking to build a bike sourced with parts from as many solid little cottage shops from the 33 community as they could. I reached out and we made a deal. I remember polishing those manually machined pegs for days before I sent them out. I am so glad I have streamlined the process today. I did manage to see a few photos of the bike completed. I believe it had a feature on Chop Cult but honestly it could have just been a thread.
The other week I was searching around the web and found a link to it being featured in Hot Bike Magazine in the April 2015 Issue. I believe this was several years after having sent the pegs out to Magoo for the bike. I’m not sure why we didn’t make the build sheet in this Hot Bike article. We didn’t even have a website at the time of the sale and we were not as well known as we are today. But we’re still so stoked to have parts on the build. Thanks again Magoo! Dead Beat Retreat 2022

We had a great time at Dead Beat! One of my favorite things is that events often turn into a little chopper family reunion and this one was no different. We also love making new homies and connecting with people we know from online. We missed the group ride we wanted to hit due to schedule conflicts but those things happen. It was super rad to spot a few different bikes running our products (thank you!!!) and meet the owner/builders.
I have a lot of feelings about this event I am going to keep to myself. But this is not the grass root little event such as the little camp outs we are used to, nor is it the big Smoke Out, Big Mountain Run type events of the past. You will just have to show up to see for yourselves.
At the main area bikes were bouncing off the rev-limiter all night at the fire pit (sometimes with burning mini bikes). It was fairly hard to hear the band. Although that makes for a whole different hilarity and chaos to take in. We did have a great time even though this is now an event that underwhelming vinyl wrapped performance dynas win bike shows. The crowd definitely seemed to have a good time though and so did we. Thanks for giving us some place to cut loose!

Hexing Gas Caps

What’s this? Hexing gas caps for modern Harleys with threaded (non bayonet) fillers. Available in Brass or Aluminum. They are indexable up to a quarter turn so the flats of the cap will not fall in some arbitrary alignment when you tighten the cap down into the gas tank filler. Back at the Blog! (Aka Blogness Monster!)

Ok, I’ll try to keep this short and sweet. Although I’ll probably fail… It has been nearly 5 years since I’ve updated the blog. I feel we are at an cross roads of sorts. Or maybe we already blew through the stop sign and never even noticed the option to turn? The internet is changing. Long gone is the internet of the early 2000s. A place where people shared ideas and creations. A place where a personal website or blog with good content could rise to the top and the little shop busting their butts could would be recognized. The internet was a great equalizer. For a time money mattered less and content and heart nearly ruled. We have turned towards “social media” for our entertainment, info and inspiration. I watched the decline of organic reach to those I interacted with on Facebook around the time that Facebook rolled out their Business “Pages”. A place where they take away the bulk of your natural supporters and your posts natural reach so that they can sell it back to you. The apps main feed is so manipulated that you can never “catch up” on missed posts and often see post from only the same handful of people even though you “follow” many more. When I discovered Instagram it was with much relief! But I knew as soon as Facebook bought it I would watch history repeat. Enter the age of InstaFace… And where do we go next? Will history just repeat there again?
I feel we are in a very strange time. The internet is or has killed most magazines. Blogs are dead and a few internet forums persist. Where are we going? To a world where we are subject primarily to paid content? Where is the grass roots bike culture we came up in? We all know it’s still in the oddball low down chopper shows, In our garages when you help a brother out with a new build/mod, or the gift of a part. It’s on those long backroad rides, when you forgot your rain gear or overcome a break down with some crazy zip tie fix that never should have gotten you home. You used to be able to feel it online. Now there are so many “life style” profiles reposting content that we often loose track of who’s who and if it was real or just a fabricated photo shoot.
Due to all of this and my uncertainty about what comes next. I am going to try to be more diligent about sharing the things that I would with my social media here in the blog. Will many see it? Likely not. But it will not be filtered and fed back to you. And it will be here as long as my site is up. So the least I can do is share to it when I make other social media posts.
As for you. I suggest we all support the places that support our culture online. If you have a blog maybe think about posting to it when you post your bike content on social media. Support the online forums we have left. The Jockey Journal is still out there and The Chop Cult Forum is cooler than ever and facilitated by people in our world who care about it. One positive thing this era has brought is the rise of the podcast. We do have some amazing grass roots podcast available to us. If you’ve not heard any of them you should have a look and support them. Maybe we can hold on to the little bit we have left strengthen it and grow something new. But no matter what don’t stop doing what is in your heart and chop on, blog on, forum on!
Now back to our regularly scheduled posts of a couple photos and few short sentences. Thanks for your ear…

Smokey Mountain Chopper Fest 2015

Man, Have we been slacking on blog updates? Well here you go as promised. This is our SMCF Update!
We had a blast at the Smokey Mountain Chopper Fest! It was great to catch up with our friends from all over the country and connect some names to faces. It's funny how these shows can begin to feel like a family reunion of sorts. Due to the chaos of catching up with old friends, generally just trying to take in the show, and the bikes being packed in so tight Saturday. I was unsure how many good shots I was able to get. Plus most of the photos I took were not necessarily in great lighting...
So come Sunday morning after a serious rehydration effort, I managed to stumble around and capture a few bikes on film. Unfortunately I still missed shooting some of the bikes I liked the most since many of them had left by the time I was shooting... Did I mention this years turn out was double the size of last year? There were killer bikes everywhere. Thanks to everyone who put in work and made this event so great!

A New Home For a New Little Lane Splitter!

The raffle bike has a new home, can you believe it? It will be on it's way to V.A. shortly! We would like to thank every one who has helped us with this raffle. This raffle never would have happened with out partnering with East End Moto/Flying Chairs to make it happen. They supplied the bike and a slew of other help and support while we worked together to make this happen. Butt's Chop Shop came threw with a bad ass donated paint job! The Burger Bar, Lazy Diamond & The Double Crown sold the heck out of tickets as did a few of our friends. Hard Drive sponsored our efforts and kicked down some parts for the bike. And of course special thanks to every one else who worked behind the scenes to help us out with this whole deal. We are really looking forward to handing a check to Richard Page to help out with the hospital bills from when he went down this winter/fall.
